Today, we remember the life of former first lady and Georgia native, Rosalynn Carter, as she’s laid to rest at the Carter family residence in Plains.
During her time as first lady, Carter focused on mental health initiatives and erasing the stigma from mental health care. In 1982, she co-founded The Carter Center with her husband, former president Jimmy Carter, and served as the chair of The Carter Center Mental Health Task Force.
She was a trailblazer for mental health, early childhood immunization, human rights, and conflict resolution.
Our thoughts are with Rosalynn Carter’s loved ones as they not only deal with the loss of an inspiration to many but also a beloved family member.
