AAPI Heritage Month

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month—a month celebrating Asian Americans’ and Pacific Islanders’ achievements and contributions to history in the United States.

AAPI Heritage Month was established in 1977 and is celebrated in May to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States on May 7, 1843. It also observes the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad, completed predominantly using Chinese labor, on May 10, 1869.

Georgia’s Own stands in solidarity with the AAPI community. Click or tap the button below to learn more about AAPI heritage and explore virtual exhibits and essays.
